Earth To Earth: The Long Barrow 1230x760 Real earths collected near prehistoric sites across Southern England and in Western Ireland, bound with acrylic resins on canvas.

We look down into the chambered tomb in the West Kennet Long Barrow in Wiltshire. The long barrow is a man-made phallic shaped chalky mound. The tomb is constructed of standing stones which outline the body of a woman giving birth with her arms folded and legs drawn up. It is a womb-tomb image of regeneration after death by an Earth Goddess underground. Not only does she give life to humans, plants and animals, but to every small grain of earth – my paint pigment – that will, one day, grow into giant boulders.
