Robin Hood’s Maze 400x400 Irish green earths with others

This maze was once worked in the turf at Sneinton, Nottingham, but has long since gone. It became named after the outlaw, hiding in the depths of the nearby forest. Using an eyedropper I created a text in liquid paint all round the side of the picture to express this idea and reference the folkloric tradition of slip-decorated pottery with writing. The forest canopy and rich vegetation gave me an excuse to use layered textured paints in contrast to the smooth ones used for the actual grass creating the earthwork.
